The trail
A Dahar stage from the Star Wars ksar of Hadada past dinosaur tracks and fossil beds, over the mountain above Ghomrassen, to the Neolithic rock paintings of Insefri.
Few 14 km walks cover so much time. Ksar Hadada, whose ghorfas served as a set for Star Wars: The Phantom Menace, is the start. The route crosses beds of marine fossils and dinosaur footprints, climbs the mountain for the view over old Ghomrassen and its cliff dwellings, and ends in the valley of Insefri, where a rock shelter is painted with Neolithic animals. The area has a signed network of five walking trails, and this stage is part of the Grande Traversee du Dahar.
