A damp oak forest on the Kroumirie ridge behind Nefza, mapped as a nature reserve. Cork oak and zeen oak, ferns and fungi cover the slopes, and on a clear day the Galite islands show on the horizon.

Rules

A PERMIT IS NEEDED TO VISIT

PERMIT
Forest land under the Direction Generale des Forets; ask at the Nefza forestry office before organised visits.
GUIDE
Recommended, as forest tracks are unsigned.
SEASON
Autumn for fungi, spring for flowers. The tracks turn to mud after winter rain.
RULES
No fires; the cork oak forests of the northwest have a high fire risk from June to October.
